A Bayside crew for seamless finishes.

IN FLOORINGS was established on 5 March 2015 in New South Wales by tradespeople and materials specialists, to do cementitious and resin finishes properly, from the substrate up.

From a local contractor to European-style finishes.

The business started as a local flooring contractor in Sydney’s Bayside, working around Rockdale, Brighton-Le-Sands, Banksia and Kyeemagh. Over time the work moved toward the seamless finishes that were becoming popular in Europe: microcement, polished concrete and resin.

Those finishes are unforgiving. A crack, a damp slab or a flexing sheet floor will show straight through 2 mm of coating. So the crew built its skills around what happens before the finish: assessment, preparation and the right products for the substrate.

Today the same crew lays microcement bathrooms, grinds and polishes showroom slabs, coats warehouse floors in epoxy, sets large-format tile and stone, and repairs worn concrete, across Greater Sydney and NSW.

What is microcement?

A decorative coating of cement, polymers and fine aggregates, applied in thin layers by hand to give a seamless surface.

It is typically 2–3 mm thick and bonds directly to tiles, timber, plywood and concrete, which is why it suits renovations. Once trowelled, it is sealed with a polyurethane or epoxy topcoat that resists water and stains.

The trowel leaves soft movement in the surface, so no two floors look exactly alike. Colour is mixed through the material, from warm whites and greys to deeper tones.

Polished concrete is a different thing: the slab itself, ground and polished. If you have a sound slab and want an industrial look, polish it. If you have tiles or timber you don’t want to rip up, microcement goes over them.
